Since the late 1980s, Gifts of the Spirit Church has taught affirmations –– self-empowering prayers as a way for a person to create change in one's life. The philosophy is that the aura, the light field around your body that emanates from your soul, is the Lord of your Being, The soul itself is the God of your Being. When you address the Lord God of your Being, you speak to your soul and its auric field. Your soul will respond to your commands and, therefore, will bring the changes you ask for into your life.

It is essential, however, to say these affirmations aloud, with feeling and emotion. This empowers the thought and draws the attention of your soul to listen and carry out your command.
