Synchronicity Reflections
June 24, 2026
I had an experience today that truly caught my attention, especially since I am a firm believer in synchronicity rather than in coincidence.
Today, I had to go to the supermarket to pick up several items. I found myself behind some extremely slow drivers, and perhaps my frustration played a role in what happened. I was heading to the closest supermarket, ShopRite, in Matamoras, Pennsylvania. My home is near Port Jervis, NY, at the point where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania meet. There is a stone monument marking where the states meet, and if you sit or stand on it, you will be in 3 states at once.

When I came home and unpacked the groceries, I discovered I had forgotten to buy Greek yogurt, even though it was on my shopping list. When I told Johnsamuel I had forgotten to buy yogurt, he said he needed to go to Middletown to run an errand. Middletown has two ShopRites, but it is a bit farther from my house than Port Jervis.
After we finished the errand, I asked Johnsamuel, “Should I buy the yogurt?”
He responded, “Do you want to go out to eat?”
I said “yes.”
He said, “Then buy the yogurt, and we will go to the restaurant.”
I disagreed. “Then the yogurt will get warm in the car.”
“All right,” he said. “Let’s go to the restaurant.”
We drove about 5 miles to the restaurant, only to find they do not serve dinner on Wednesday. We decided to go to another restaurant that served Indian food, and we enjoyed a delicious meal.
Afterward, we drove to ShopRite, which is across the street from the Indian restaurant. I parked the car and noticed the car in front of me had North Carolina license plates. I chuckled to myself and thought, โHi Carl.โ
Carl Hewitt was born in Shallotte, North Carolina, and he passed away while living in Charleston, South Carolina. Whenever I see a license plate from North or South Carolina, I feel it is Carl saying โHiโ to me. However, this time I was drawn to the license plate numbers, noticed that it began with LEX, and immediately thought of Lexington, Massachusetts, where the Revolutionary War began.

So I went into ShopRite, walked to the dairy department, picked up a container of Greek yogurt, and headed to the self-checkout. I was running low on cash and only had a $100 bill, but I wanted smaller denominations. I put the $100 in the machine, and it gave me my change, which included two quarters.
I also collect quarters and have all the 50-state quarters, but not all the National Park quarters; therefore, I check each quarter to see if it is one I need for my collection. To my astonishment, one quarter was from Connecticut, where Carl lived most of his life, and the second was from South Dakota, which depicts Mount Rushmore. I immediately remembered visiting Mount Rushmore with Carl on a trip we took out west.

Then suddenly, another thought occurred to me. About 2 days ago, I went shopping at ShopRite and bought a reusable shopping bag to commemorate America 250. The bag features an image of Mount Rushmore!

Well, I thought, โCarl must have been with me when I was shopping 2 days ago and wanted me to know it.โ These events and their timing really caught my attention. Suppose I had bought the yogurt 2 hours earlier. Would I have seen the North Carolina license plate and received the same quarters? I doubt it. It amazes me how events are orchestrated so we receive messages from the Spirit World.
There will be people who say I am just reading into things; however, it is also interesting that today is my parentsโ wedding anniversary, and I did not receive any signs from either my mother or my father.
On a side note, I thought it was extremely interesting that President Obama began his speech on June 19th, opening his presidential library, with the same message Carl gave on June 6th. President Obama was more specific than Carl, but the concept was the same.
