Matthew Manning became an Automatic Drawing and Writing medium when he was a teenager. Many famous deceased artists chose to continue their artistic expression by controlling Matthew's hand, as he held pen to paper. He said that he enjoyed the energy of many of the artists who worked through him, but there were those he did not. He found Picasso's energy unpleasant.

Years later, Matthew chose to focus his mediumship exclusively on healing, which he has done for many decades.
